Meta i OpenAI u otvorenom sukobu zbog najboljih AI talenata
Rivalstvo Meta i OpenAI se zaoštrilo nakon što je Mark Zuckerberg aktivno počeo da preotima najtalentovanije istraživače i developere iz OpenAI. Meta nudi ogromne sign-on bonuse, navodno do $100 million, kako bi izgradio laboratorij za superinteligenciju i ojačao svoj AI tim. OpenAI je do sada izgubio najmanje osam istraživača dok Meta pojačava regrutovanje.
Sam Altman je naredio obaveznu nedjelju odmora za zaposlene dok rukovodstvo pokušava sanirati odlive i nadoknaditi pozicije. Altman je žustro apelovao na istraživače OpenAI da ostanu i bore se za misiju kompanije, dok Meta intensivno nudi bonuse i pozicije za svoj AGI projekat.
"We have gone from some nerds in the corner to the most interesting people in the tech industry (at least)," Altman said in a Slack post. "AI Twitter is toxic; Meta is acting in a way that feels somewhat distasteful; I assume things will get even crazier in the future. After I got fired and came back I said that was not the craziest thing that would happen in OpenAl history; certainly neither is this."
"Meta has gotten a few great people for sure, but on the whole, it is hard to overstate how much they didn't get their top people and had to go quite far down their list; they have been trying to recruit people for a super long time, and I've lost track of how many people from here they've tried to get to be their Chief Scientist," Altman continued. "I am proud of how mission-oriented our industry is as a whole; of course there will always be some mercenaries," the CEO said, adding that "missionaries will beat mercenaries."
Altman je najavio reviziju kompenzacija za cijeli istraživački tim i istakao: "I believe there is much, much more upside to OpenAl stock than Meta stock."
Obje kompanije ciljno teže AGI, a borba Meta protiv OpenAI sada se vodi preko regrutovanja, plata i bonusa u pokušaju da se privuku vrhunski AI istraživači.
